I attended PhotoPlus Expo on Friday and got to handle the new 70-200 f/4 lens. As reported, it is a relatively light lens. The lens was mounted on a D4 and it was a well balanced package. The lens will work very well with the smaller/lighter Nikon DSLRs. The barrel is slim with the diameter being the same from end to end. This is why it uses a 67mm filter. The lens is light enough that a tripod collar may not be needed. Owners will need to decide this themselves.
I cannot report on image quality because I was not allowed to insert a CF card in the D4. I didn't bother to mount it on my D3S because I had to remove my CF cards if I did. Not worth the effort.
Bottom line: This lens will satisfy folks looking for a light 70-200mm zoom lens.
