Neil, I agree with your thoughts regarding the 24-70 and tripod. It is manageable, but not a perfect situation. I know that one of the f/4's selling points is that it is lighter than the f/2.8 lens, but if one chooses to use it on a tripod on a regular basis, we will either have to purchase a tripod collar or rely on the camera body tripod socket. Once again, it will work, but not perfect.
I will taking the D3S+24-70 to PhotoPlus so I will check out the weight/balance between the two lenses while I am there.
