Agree with Mick. Having owned both the 18-200 and a 16-85/70-300 kit on a D7000, I was much happier with the 16-85/70-300 combo.

Also I took my 16-85 and 70-300 to Walt Disney World in June and never took the 70-300 out once. Animal Kingdom is the only place I can think of where you need a powerful zoom or if you are sitting in the back row at Fantasmic and want a close up of Mickey. Everyplace else was about the wide angle and 16mm is much better than 18mm. Other than that, I found a good Flash is far more important than zoom. Lot's of shadows and crappy light at the character meet and greets.
The 16-85 VR on a DX is definitely a winner and a very useful range.
