I just want to say that I've been out in my backyard all this morning, playing with my new 70-200 f2.8 VRII, and it is a dream come true!
I noticed some planes leaving contrails way way up there overhead - I live up in the hills - and I wanted to see how far, far really is with this lens, without teleconverter. The clarity with this VRII is amazing and I got enlargeable shots, that I'm still playing with, of the planes leaving the contrails.
The color and clarity is amazing with this lens. It is better than I remember my old 70-200VR one to have been, but I loved that one too, and I'm shooting with a different body right now (5100 vs d70). Not that the body should affect it that much as it is the lens doing the work.
If you are wondering if you should take the plunge (and, I'm told I that am a bad influence about these things), I say do it . . . it's only money, and you will spend on it on something anyway . . . might as well be this incredible lens! Viva la NAS!
