I'm still not sure what causes the stickiness on the rubber of Nikon bodies, but it happens on quite a few bodies not just the N80, and it is annoying.

Best advice given that seems to work is to use 90% isopropyl alcohol. Dip a clean lint free cotton cloth in the alcohol and wipe away the stickiness. The 90% solution should evaporate quickly if it gets anywhere it shouldn't.

This reminds me, I need to check my N70 and SB-28s and fire them off an run them through their paces.
