The Pro Bodies had a production life of about 8 to 10 years. That would be much less pain in the wallet for most of us.
I suspect the F8 would be the latest and greatest taking the place of the D4 with a similarly capable AF system and feature set.
One thing for certain, Kodak would be significantly stronger than their current status in chapter 11. I think Kodachrome would not have been discontiued too.
