Today I was shooting in my church where some shots required my camera mounted SB-800 and others no flash. The camera was set Auto White Balance. When I wanted a no-flash shot I could have used my function button but instead I just switched off the flash but kept it mounted.

What surprised was after ingesting into Lightroom 2 the no-flash shots were blue and the with flash shots were normal.

In Lightroom I then changed the "as shot" white balance to flash and the images became normal.

Does the D300s auto white balance register an image as flash if the flashgun is mounted and switched off?

regards,

Ian
