Am I understanding correctly that this update only supports Nikon lenses?

Can someone help me please?

I have a D800. I have downloaded the new firmware to my CF, no problem. When I open the camera menu to "Firmware version" and then open that I get the options for A, B and L and below that only the yellow line that says "DONE" - I do not get the yellow line that says "UPDATE."

How do I get the yellow UPDATE line to appear?

Thank you so much for your help!!!

Pam

The file that you download from Nikon is a compressed file.

You need to run that file on your computer. It should create a folder on your desk top that contains the file that you need to put on the memory card.

That file name is: NKLD01009.bin

Put that file on the memory card, at the top level (not in any folder.)

Now put the card in the camera and the update should work.

Does this mean that you can run distortion control both in the camera and in lightroom? I would have thought one or the other.

So if you shoot only in raw and use the LR lens profiles, do you still want/need this? thanks

No. LR uses it's own profiles and ignores this part of the RAW data. Turn Distortion Control off in the camera.

If you are shooting JPGs, you can use it in camera or in post.

Yes. You just don't want to apply distortion correction in Lightroom to jpegs that have been already corrected in camera.

Only true if you shoot RAW. If you also have or only have a JPEG, then the Lens Distortion profile is applied in the JPEG that the camera produces. So download and update your camera firmware for the Lens Distortion data, IMO.

I had articulated my question better, more specific, in another forum that Jason answered with a more deefinitive response. Thanks Jason for the education that everyone enjoys on Nikonians.
