I just bought a new Nikon D800. Love it. No complaints.

I rented a Zeiss 35mm/F2 lens today from my local photo rental shop and went out and shot a bunch of photos..

everyone is overexposed.

So, anyone seen this? have an ideas? I did pretty good w/the manual focus (i'm fine using manual focus if that's all I have )... but i'm pretty unhappy with these overexposed shots....

would love some feedback.

thanks
dc

There are two types of Zeiss 2/35 lenses. If you have the older Distagon T* 2/35zf you have to fill in the non-CPU Lens Data, focal length and maximum aperture, to allow your camera to accurately meter. If you have the newer 2/35zf.2 this is not required, but you have to lock the aperture ring at the 22 position. I have had outstanding results with my Zeiss lenses, 2/25zf.2, 2/35zf and 2/100zf, on the D800.

I'll try some tests tomorrow with other lenses (nikkor) vs the zeiss and see what happens. This one I rented IS a ZF2
