Good morning all

I have just noticed that an external flash connected by PC cable to the flash sync terminal on my D800, does not fire if the built-in flash is raised for use.

Is this a fault in my camera, or is it normal ?

The external flash seems to trigger correctly when built-in flash is folded down, including when a Nikon flash is mounted to top of camera.
Thanks again

Hi Geoffrey,

It is Normal and working as designed.
The PC port is disengaged when the built in Speedlight or the hotshoe is being used.

Best Regards,
Marty

Hi Marty

Thanks for this info.
Shame - I was hoping it was a fault and I could get it corrected!
