My typical workflow from raw files is to import them via PICASA to my computer and from there open into CS2 and back to PICASA as a jpg.

Worked flawless for years on my D200 and D300.
Got my D800 this weekend, after all it was fathers' day and took some testshots.

NEF Files imported fine into PICASA but noticed a purple and black stripe on the right side and the pixel count was 7424 x 4924. This is the case whether imported via card reader or via NX2. ViewNX2 does not see these extra pixels.

Converted the NEF files to DNG and now PICASA reads them as 7378 x 4924 and the purple and black stripe are gone.

A jpg file from the camera comes in at 7360 x 4912 in PICASA.

What is reality and what is fiction?
