Is there a way to display all or some focusing point on D800 permanently like on Canon cameras? I do handheld panoramas using focusing points as a marker. So moving from right to left or left to right to exactly the same place where focusing point was gets me within 100 pixels and I don't have to drag tripod with me.

This isn't what you are asking for but try this to see if it works for you:

Custom Setting d6 menu item toggles Viewfinder Grid on/off. Maybe that will give you something you can use.
