I just checked the Best Buy Stores in Tampa, Fl and Brandon, Fl .....nothing in stock. One store told me they might get some in on 3/27 and the other said 3/25.

I do not understand why Best buy got so many D800's to distribute to their stores and so many Specialty camera stores got nothing or maybe only 2 or 3.
Since when is Best buy a preferred Nikon seller ?

They probably move more Nikon product a month than specialty retailers do per year...

Think about it.

One of our Best Buys in B'ham, AL has a couple in stock. I was just about to purchase one, but it hit me that I would be paying tax - about $300 more. Decided to wait on my B&H order. Still love my D300s so no big deal.

Congrats to those that got their though.

I happened to be in Oak Brook (i.e. Chicago) and went to the Best Buy -- nothing, but the guy searched around and found on for me a few hours away. He called and put it on hold, got there at opening this morning and now I have one.

Of course I was on the road (without camera, more importantly without lens) so now I either have a D800 I can't even try for a week, or I need to go buy a new lens.

Gee.... and there's a Calumet right around the corner from me.

Thinking....
Thinking....

But I was very impressed to get one at Best Buy. I've been on B&H's backorder list, haven't gotten so much as an email since the original estimated ship date. Called and was told "we only got a couple, no idea when we will get more, and no we won't tell you where you are on the list". Sigh. Now I can cancel that order I guess.

But imagine that -- Best Buy!!

Now about that lens....

PS. Least you think I am silly vs. impatient, I leave in a month for a two week vacation including my (only) niece's wedding. So the last thing I wanted was for B&H to ship my camera the day AFTER, which is what I was expecting, especially since they spend a huge part of April not working (religious holiday).

I didn't order. I just walked in and bought one. They received (3), an employee bought one, and I got one of the other two.
