Im thinking of picking up a 70-200 2.8 vrII or 300 f4 with the d800, not quite sure yet which i should pick

Im not really sure how to post pictures here or anything else, but once i get my hands on it i'd be happy to tell you what you'd like

Picture of me and my sales person. I think she is somewhat better looking than me. Taken with MY NEW D800. BTW they have one more D4 in stock. Epperson Photo OKC 405 943-1047

I've heard a few times that Nikon USA is closed next week so I don't see that happening.

Why is NIKON USA closed next week. They are closed in mid April for inventory but that should be way after the initial shipments are delivered. I am waiting to hear from Berger Brothers...

That's just what the nikon rep told me. It's been a few weeks since I talked to him. Hopefully he was full of sh*t, but I'm not sure why he would lie, but maybe he had the dates wrong. If that's the case he told the shop I go to the same thing. I thought it odd that they would be launching 3 cameras and close!

Congratulations on being the first Nikonian to get their hands on what I'm sure is going to be a fantastic camera.

Now lets see some pics.

Strange that a independent shop would get their stock before Amazon or
any of the giant dealers in NYC or LA.

One thing I found out this morning is the PhotoShop and DXO do not support this camera yet. I'm doing all of my raw conversion with ViewNX2.Also a lot of loud mirrow slap. Guess I will shoot JPG for awhile

So coming from your D7K, your sense is the D800 is much louder?

Yes and you can feel the mirror movement. But I so far have shot several hundred pictures and except for BS stuff the keeper rate is higher than than D7K. I really, really like this camera. I like the reach of DX but this thing is a entirely different animal.

It's just the larger mirror to cover a larger sensor. My dx bodies are way quiter than my 700, but I never had a 7000

what is your 'keeper' percentage on handheld shots ? Is it less than your prior bodies ? Are you finding the increased need to carefully focus the least bit disappointing ?

I guess one way to look at it could be : letting the pros tell us how the D800 is fairing in practical situations ... might save me the hassle of a return for a D4 if I know ahead of time that the D800 is just not practical in normal non studio settings.

About 80-90 percent. Yes on the focusing I'm old and not real steady so I'm trying to be real careful. Have taken a bunch of pictures of flowers that are starting to bloom using every lens I own. When I nail it my there good, real good.I've been using a D7000 and I like this better by a good bit. When shooting flowers I first look a what I'm shooting and I want that same look on my screen just like it looks to my eye.
