Hello to all. Does anyone know if I can use the MC 20 Remote cord and the MC-DC1 cord on the D800? Thanks.

Please refer to page 390 of your Nikon D800 User's Manual for a complete list of Nikon-approved remote terminal accessories. If you do not have a physical copy of the User's Manual, a PDF version can be downloaded here: http://www.nikonusa.com/pdf/manuals/dslr/D800_EN.pdf

Thanks Chris. I saw that in my manual but I don't want to invest in new cords if what I already have will work

You're welcome! I, however, might have to invest in an IR remote because, for whatever hair-brained reason, Nikon decided to omit an IR receiver from the D800! This is the one I'm planning on purchasing.

Hi Wayne,

The MC-DC1 is not compatible with the D800.
Since the MC-20 has a 10 pin MTR plug just like the MC-30 and MC-36 and both are fully compatible with the D1 and D2 Series bodies, I see no reason that the MC-20 shouldn't work on a D800.
Good Luck and Enjoy your Nikons!

Best Regards,
Marty

I am using a Pixel Wireless Remote, RW-221RX. There are various cords available for specific cameras, so I also use it with my Lumix G3 by changing the connector. Works perfectly on my D800 and D700. The cord is coiled, so you can plug it in the 10pin connector and use it as a wired remote or use the wireless feature, which seems to work at 75-100 feet if necessary. Very happy with this inexpensive device, widely available on the internet.

I'm curious about the Pixel Wireless Remote RW-221RX you mentioned. Could you please provide a link to the site you ordered it from?

Thanks!

Chris
