New forum for a new class of camera (as stated by Nikon).

We are the cool kids now. Thanks for the split.

I feel more like we're the ostracized kids now. We're considered different, so we can't play with the others.

I'm new here, so I'm likely barking up the wrong tree, but from a "mastering" perspective the D700 and D800 seem like more similar cameras than the D1/D2 are to the full frame D3/D4.

I suspect that volume of posts is the primary determinant rather than controls and behaviors, which is fair enough if it makes the forums more usable. So, thank you mods.

Don't visit my Nikonians gallery yet. It's empty.

Because of the high volume of posts on the D800(e) in the previous D700/D800 forum the administrative team here at Nikonians thought it best to create a dedicated D800 forum. The D800 moderators Marty (MEMcD), Eric (ericbowles), and myself, Ernesto (esantos) welcome you.

I think the D800/D800E is going to set so many standards that soon this forum will have huge traffic. It is a wise decision to separate the two forums.

This camera is truly in a class of its own, a medium-format camera in a 35mm body. Nothing else like it!

Personally I think splitting them is silly but then that's just my preference.

I agree. Must have been hard for those with the D700 and no plans to upgrade to have to go through wads of D800(e) stuff just to get to something that may directly influence them. Then again, for those interested, it is a quick couple of clicks to get to this forum.
Thanks for doing that. Great idea.

Great strategy. A new sensor/body and that makes the D800 issues unique to it. Thanks for seeing that and putting more focus to our interest in the D800....Mike
