So now that I have the D7000 and the ability to shoot video, I'm starting to realize I'm going to need several more batteries. However, I haven't found one yet..any suggestions?

They are not out yet, I sent Nikon a Cust Service question. They said they will be out soon

We currently do not have the EN-EL15 available. We will in the near future. You can always check the availability on our website:

http://shop.nikonusa.com/store/nikonusa/en_US/list/parentCategoryID.43893400/categoryID.43893600

I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Regards,

Like other camera releases they do not have all the accessories available right away especially if it is a new design. They are just trying to get the new product out.
Does not make much sense to me but it is what it is

It's supposedly starting to just hit dealer inventories now. Nikon's pipeline is bottlenecked - bad execution when you're talking about a new model introduction. You'll probably see them within the next month. They can't go into the holiday rush missing key accessories - makes for a very grumpy gift opening morning in December.

Yup, considering how much they charge for accessories (case in point, a $17 IR remote that you can get for $0.99 from generics) it's a huge failure when they don't have items available.

Profit margin is typically much higher on accessories, and here we are unable to fork over $40-$60 for a battery that probably costs a few dollars to manufacture.

Most dealers were not able to even order batteries/grips until yesterday. Shipment is still a couple of weeks out.

Oh I'm not saying it's the dealers' faults, this is bad business on Nikon's part.

I didn't take it that way, it think it's ridiculous that Nikon didn't have them out with the launch too.

I wonder who'll get the batteries and grips in first? I miss having a grip.

Just go to eBay, plenty of $1 or $2 IR remotes...I typically buy from the US based sellers, so it's faster, but it's usually a buck more.

canon did the same thing with the 5D and 7D battery. I bought three batts per camera, and have made more money off renting the batteries alone. go figure

It's still not out till now. At least in germany.
I sent Nikon a Service question as well and they said it will be out before christmast.

Hey Nikon! It's one week left

It can't be true that a company like nikon is that kind of unorganized.

Nice to hear that the US is well supplied.
Anyway. If I oder, it cost me plus $50.00 for shipping and tax and the minimum shipping time is about 7 days. That's not worse.

Thank's for your help and infomation.

... and i certainly agree that nikon should have had spare batteries ready when the d7000 came out. have you tried to order the extended warranty for the camera? none of those yet

no. just the normal limited warranty. the extended one prolongs the warranty for two additional years and some additional repair items. does that means more?
