I didn't want to hijack the other thread or step on any toes.

It sounds like Mastering the D3100 won't happen. One of the other people over their mentioned Field Guide for the D3100, a decent book in itself.

Not to offend anyone but the D3100 is a relatively easy camera to learn and it may be why no Mastering the D3100 is being offered.

Now with that said; there most definately are a lot of functions to figure out and become proficient at and the user manual and disk are basically worthless explaining these daunting tasks.

I purchased D3100 for Dummies and found it to be extremely helpful.
Don't let the name of the book turn you off. It is very complete and explains ALL the functions of the D3100 in understandable terms. They do a good job keeping the technical stuff very understandable. After reading it I had a good understanding of the features on the camera and after applying what I learned with practice and repetition
I feel very confident with my D3100 now.

Not endorsing any one product just giving an option to D3100 users.
