Hi,

I just bought a Nikon D5000 (it came with the 18-55mm lens) and a Nikon AF-S DX 55-200MM f/4-5.6G IF-ED VR Lens...

I paid a total of $810 (not including tax) for both the camera and the lens. Was this a good deal? I was able to do some price matching to get the camera for $660 and the lens for $150.

If not - are are there places that you know of that offer better deals? (Maybe online sites or camera sites that are offering deep discounts)?

Please let me know. Any feedback would be great!

Thanks!

where did u get them that cheap? Here in Tampa, Fl. area it is $749 for camera and 18-55 vr kit, and $249 for the 55-200 vr. I bought locally at best buy but BH is about the same which i usually use as a standard comparison.

Did you get U.S. version or grey market?

It might be a new promotion, but B&H, Adorama and Amazon are advertising the 2 lens kit for about $850 shipped. It looks like there was a $200 instant rebate or price reduction for that kit.

I just looked at Best Buy's Sunday ad, and they also have the two lense kit and a camera bag for just under $850.

Amazon has it for $649 right now with 18-55 vr lens. In fact, I just bought it.

The D3000 is $479.72 with lens too.

Congrats! You did get a sweet deal. I purchased mine back in May for 849, ( one kit lens included), from Wolf Camera. You are going to have so much fun with this camera.
