Hi

I'm mostly doing sports photo, and for that reason going for a high FPS. My budget is not for D3S or D4, so next best is D700 with ext. battery grip (8 FPS).
I know it is not easy to say anything about the D600 specs, but does it make sense that Nikon makes same option with the D600, having higher FPS with external grip?

Doubtful. The D600 would likely be 5 fps, not 8 with grip. But that's me. We'll have to wait and see what Nikon has in mind.

If you get the d700 grip, buy rechargble AA batteries. The other option of using the E4 series battery is expensive. You need the battery , charger plus a different battery holder.
