I just bought a used D700 with a MB-D10 grip. However, the MB-D10 won't work with the EN-EL3 battery? Whenever I put the battery into the MB-D10 I get a low battery symbol and the camera won't turn on. Swapping the batteries doesn't help. If I use AA batteries, the camera accepts them and does its thing.

Both batteries show fully charged and New "0" in the Battery Info. I removed the two screws, opened the EN-EL3 slide in tray and checked all of the contacts visually and with a Volt-Ohm meter. While in the tray both batteries registered about 8.2 vdc.

I don't have another MB-D10 grip with which to make sure it isn't the camera's contacts. Nor do I have an EL4 battery to test.

Any ideas or suggestions besides return the camera?

John

I upgraded to the latest. 1.02 and 1.03, I think. I got the link from the top of this forum.

Are you using the EN-EL3E? I also use the AA rechargables in my grip and get over 1200 shots, maybe you can try saving your settings to a CF card and do a two button reset to see if that helps.

Yes it is a 3e battery. What is interesting is, if I put the empty battery tray in the grip without a battery, the camera works just fine. It is only with the EN-EL3e battery that it doesn't work.

I would return the grip. Just to be clear, does the camera work properly with the en-el3e in the camera alone with no grip attached?
