I have used the menu to set up my D700 to focus using my thumb on the AF-ON button. When I press the shutter release the autofocus will refocus if I'm not quick. Unfortunately, if I'm quick I can sometimes move the camera. Is there any way to turn off the autofocus function in the shutter release so that all autofocusing is controlled by the AF-ON button?

I believe custom setting a5 should be set to AF-On Only. That will prevent focus with the shutter button.

Hi Tom,

Luke hit the nail on the head!
set Custom Setting a5 to AF-ON only.
Good Luck and Enjoy your Nikons!

Best Regards,
Marty
