... New home as in "home-forum", not in the realestate sense...

After weeks of agonizing over real and hypothetical choices, and after many months of drooling over this loved-and-appraised-by-all-users body, I took a (deep) plunge and bought a D700 + 24-70 f/2.8 "kit"... Wow. Just holding this camera I feel like a better photographer already...

Many, many thanks to all your good advice (direct and indirect via other threads) that helped me reach my decision, esp. Neil R with his patient detailed technical insights... I'm probably one of the last Mohicans to buy this camera new, but unless the new D800 comes with a "make me a better photographer" menu, my new-body NAS is all set for the foreseeable future...

I am half-way through reading Mastering the 700 (great reading!) which I got together with the The Nikon Creative Lighting System book. It will take a while to really learn how to use and set the camera, but that's half the fun, isn't it?

Cheers,
Zevi

Enjoy.

The D700 was a grand slam home run for Nikon. The longer you use it, the more you'll like it. The camera is designed to just get out of my way and let me shoot what I see.

From another 'last Mohican' (mine is 3 weeks old), may I say congratulations and 'wise choice'! It's hard to find a camera with the D700's reputation, so I think we're set for quite a while (even with advancing technology).
Enjoy!

Thank you for the good words! I am very excited and looking forward to start using it, but I'm mostly reading at this point...

One thing that I know I'm going to be struggling with, is a need for new workflow. I don't want to double-post here, but I posted a question here. I would appreciate hearing your thoughts about it.

Thanks,
Zevi
