I finally made the plunge and ordered the D700 together with a SB-900 yesterday!!! (It was a package deal)
Picked it up from the shop today :-D
The first impression when i picked it up was the feel of quality... the i put in a charged battery and looked through the viewfinder... wow thats much bigger and brighter than the D200!
The manual is quite thick.

Have been taking a few test shots and fiddling around in the menu so far..

Hi Tom,
Congratulations. The D700 is a great camera. Yes the manual is thick! I would highly
recommend "Mastering the Nikon D700 " by Nikonians Young and Johnson.

Keep Shooting.

I love my D700 and associated glass.

Please accept another recommendation for "Mastering The Nikon D700". I have learnt an awful lot from this excellent book.

Thank you all for your kind comments!
It's definitly a big step forward from the D200 (even if it stll a good camera except for high-ISO performance). The build quality is every bit as good as i expected. So far i'm a happy camper

I think reading all threads in "Nikon D700 Users Group " is better than the thick D700 manual that come iwth the gold box lolxxxxxx

Great Tom
I know you will LOve it just as I love mine. I have a D-300 as a back-up and it doesn't get the use now with the D-700 HERE NOW. Congrats to you. Start shooting a lot now.
