I have to take a lot of indoor shots (in auditoriums mainly) without a flash. So i have always tended towards long focal length and high speed lens. But these are getting progressively more expensive, soI tried increasing the ISO on my D200. The results while good, are not something that I can really feel enthusiastic about. So I thought, perhaps I should buy the D700 which supports a higher speed, ot for about the same price I can get a faster lens.

This is probably a no-brainer for people who are experts. I would like to hear from some of them.
