If you use the Z lenses, is NO focus motor noise. No so with the F-mount lenses. One can solve that problem by using an off-camera mic, of course. -

Tue 16-Mar-21 07:36 AMYou can set the speed you want for transitions. The Nikon Z cameras are very good and can provide fast focus with various modes including Face/Eye detect, but sometimes you want it to adjust slowly for a smoother transition. It's your call on the speed.
As far as the motor is concerned, it's either silent or almost silent depending on the lens. Older F-mount lenses were designed for stills with occasional video. The Z system lenses were generally designed for video and have silent operation.Eric Bowles

I am going to purchase a Z6ii once it becomes available. I wanted to ask you how it focuses compared with a DSLR like D500 or D800 which I have now. Is the focus smooth or does one kind of hear the motor?
While I used the video mode of both D800 and D500, I found the focusing less than satisfying.
Thank you
