SD (Secure Digital) and UHS-II compliant SDHC and SDXC memory cards

You definitely should be looking at a UHS-II card for most situations. Speed in most Nikon cameras is double the older and cheaper UHS-I cards. I'm using this card in all recent cameras - D850 and Z7II. I would use a cheaper UHS-I card (Sandisk Extreme Pro 170Mbs UHS-I SD) if available in the Z50, D750, and other UHS-I cameras.

I was reading through Thom Hogan’s new Z 6/7 II book.
In that book, Thom says (pg 194) that the speed of the camera’s internals are limited by the speed of the slowest card.
Even a 300MB UHS-II card may reduce the effective buffer capacity.
So if you’re not getting the buffer performance you think you should be, try removing the SD card.
That may do the trick.

Sun 21-Mar-21 01:42 PMThat was certainly true originally, but I'm not sure how it has changed over time. I don't think it matters on my Z6 or Z7II.
The way I test is to fire a burst at top speed, and then look at the file information on playback and count the frames starting with the first full second.
If you are testing, take a look at how it changes after 4-7 seconds at full speed. A 15 second burst gives you a very good idea. On my Z cameras I saw peak frame rate until the buffer filled, and then it slowed by more than 60% until the buffer cleared.Eric Bowles

What are folks using for SD cards in the second gen Z6/7?
The CFExpress cards are so fast and so robust, I wonder what speeds/grades of SD cards folks are using.
