Welding arc damage to Z-7 sensors?

Are there any special preparations on photographing welding arc (MIG and TIG, stick) in action? I'll be using my normal welding helmet with strong eye protection, but do I need to worry about the sensor? I'll be far enough away to avoid the sparks that are generated.
