Fri 22-Jan-21 03:39 PMI don't think you gain much at modest sized prints like that. The Z6/Z6II handle that size print just fine. The exception would be something that needs extreme detail assuming you have the lens that can render that detail (all the Z
S lenses would meet that standard unless you are stopping down and increasing diffraction materially).
But if you are printing larger - 20x30 or larger - the Z7II will have some modest advantage.Eric Bowles

You are trying to compare a 20MP sensor camera with as 45.7 MP sensor camera. That doesn't make a lot of sense. Better to compare a D850 with the Z 7, or D6 to the Z 6.
You also don't say what your intended subjects are and under what lighting conditions.
Furthermore, I think your results will have far more to do with the lens than the camera.Mick

After more research, I have decided that the smart money is to keep what I have and get an FTZ and an F-mount micro 105mm.

Fri 22-Jan-21 08:43 PMI have both the Z7, and D6. I usually print no larger than 11 x 17, sometimes 13 x 19. Printing with the D6 isn't so much of a problem. I always chose the Z7 over the D6 when possible. Simply because of the editing. Your are somewhat limited with the D6. Action shots have to be shot tighter there isn't as much room for cropping. I can shoot looser with the z7. If you are going to find yourself a situation that requires high ISO ie.. fast shutter speed in low light, fast auto focus, and of course high frame rates the D6 always is the first choice. For macro shots I would chose the z7. None of the advantages of the D6 would apply. While all of the benefits of the z7 would. Not to mention the added expense of the D6 if you already have a z7.

FWIW, maximum imiage enlargement / printing will be 22 x 17".
I have a Z7 but looking at the D6 for macro and lens choices. Financially it would help if I could trade rather than add another camera.
