New Z7II

I just received my Z7II, let the learning begin. I am upgrading from a D7200, so I am changing to mirrorless and full frame.

Congrats. The Z bodies are indeed a different beast than the traditional DSLR bodies. You have fewer dedicated control buttons. You have the i-menu which is highly customizable, plus the ability to save 3 sets of user functions. It takes time to set up your personal preferred settings. And, it may take some reading plus trial to gain a feel for the settings that work best for you.
Patience may be tested at times, but the results are worth it. Photography.com has a rather good article on the author's chosen settings for the Z7ii and Z6ii and why he chose them. Your final preferred settings will likely be different in the end.

If you would like to download my Nikon Z7 settings to your camera without having to go through the whole menu one by one, please download the below file:

Once you download the file, please copy it to the root folder of your XQD memory card, then put the memory card into your Nikon Z7 and go to Menu -> Setup Menu -> Save/load settings -> Load settings. This will add all the recommended settings from this article.-
