Tue 15-Dec-20 03:00 PMI picked up my Z7ii yesterday. This morning a minor firmware update was released for the Z6ii (1.02) and Z7ii (1.01). Both installed without issue.
FWIW, I upgraded the firmware on my FTZ adapters to 1.1 last July when the firmware update was released. I did not need to do anything updates on the Z6ii to use the FTZ. -

Wed 16-Dec-20 02:43 AMJohn, I did this unexpectedly. I was doing Z7 stuff, when I got an alert within Snapbridge, that there was an update available. I did say ok and it went as I recall, just like an iPad or iPhone update.

Does it ever end?
I am glad they are starting to ship out the new Z's.
Maybe I'll have better luck with a new camera than I did with the truck, the MacBook, or the iPad.

Fri 18-Dec-20 02:38 AMEric,
Thanks for the update. Maybe I'll get lucky out here in San Jose, Ca. Not too many camera shops around the SF Bay Area these days.

Fri 18-Dec-20 03:31 PMIt depends on the retailer and the relative size of that store's backlog. Most of the smaller retailers have adequate stock right now and only short waits. Big retailers like B&H get the same allocation as a smaller dealer, so if they have a long wait list it could be a while.
If you want a Z6ii you can probably find one. Hunt's has a package that includes a free CFExpress card and reader, and while they are out of stock now, they had availability a couple of weeks ago.
Take a look at Berger, Roberts, or even Best Buy if Hunt's can't help.Eric Bowles

Sat 19-Dec-20 09:28 AMThanks Eric. I prefer to buy form our local camera shop so that they can stay in business. They have usually had the new models on the first day of issue, but this time it didn't work. No rush, I guess. I still have my Z6 original, but have sold all of my DSLRs and lenses to KEH over the years. I kept my AF-S 300mm PF. Just a super lens for wildlife travel, and birds at home.Dick Niles

Sat 19-Dec-20 07:17 PMI agree with you Dick. Good to support our local shops. Nice to buy online at times, but we're in danger of losing our shops. They offer a place to learn, a place to touch and hold a camera/lens, etc. before making that purchase decision. I also like the fact that our family owned shop is supporting the local gift drive. I'll be dropping off a soccer ball on Sunday - big in our area.
Just got an update from my local dealer. My camera is on the UPS truck, 2nd day delivery. Expected delivery is Monday or Tuesday. Was hoping to take it with me for a short backpacking trip to Mt. Lassen on Monday - oh well.Visit my Nikonians gallery.

Took a short walk in the woods with my tripod/Nikon. I needed to convince myself what the Z 7ii could do under low light conditions and the kit lens. For perspective, those are Redwood trees in the image. I was impressed:
f/20.0, 30", ISO 400, 70mm. Highly cropped.
Love the forums. Look forward to honing my skills.

The camera recognizes F mount lenses and the FTZ so you don't have to download an update as with the Z6 ii.
Still waiting for the Z 50mm 1.2 S. That should be exciting.
