Z 6II TIFF format selection missing - please help

Did you scroll all the way thru all the options in image quality? Looks like the Z 6II has quite a few and thus a longish list. On my D850 it is buried at the bottom of the list. One could easily miss it if they did not scroll all the way to the bottom of the list.

The Z6 II doesn't appear to support TIFF files out of camera. No mention of TIFF files in the manual (page 151 has a table of supported formats). TIFF files were supported by the Z6 and Z7.

On my Z 6 and Z 7, TIFF is the last option in the Image Quality selection of thePhoto Shooting Menu. It is after all of the JPEG only options.

My Z 6II does not have Tiff options.

If the reason for wanting to have the camera generate a tif is based on the fact that editing programs are not yet recognizing the Z6ii model, there are two solutions.

1. You can used Nikon Capture NX-D to convert the Z6ii NEF to tif. You can also process the NEF before savings. NX-D has some good editing features and results. However the interface is somewhat frustrating at first.

2. You can use an EXIF editor and change the camera model from Z6_2 to Z6. There are free and fee based editors with the free ones typically supporting the editing of EXIF info for one image at a time. Fee based EXIF editors usually support batch modes.

If you search for EXIFTOOL you'll find the free version from Phil Harvey. It will do a command line operation to change the camera name on a whole batch of *.NEF files. Adobe will eventually add the Z6 2 and Z7 2 cameras. The idea of renaming back to the name without the "ii" is how you can bring in files to editors. Save the originals but it should be a close enough change to work quite well. The sensors are the same and it's mostly a processor issue where the ii cameras now have double processors. Save off all images unchanged until we can confirm the new camera profile is either the same or different and allow you a "do over" if worth it.

Perhaps this is a naive question.

Have people actually tried it and it doesn't work? I wonder if there is a text file, which can be edited.
