Fri 20-May-22 01:38 PMI wonder if a lot of companies have not outsourced their web/email marketing and basically lost control, as some outsourced, probably off shore group gets more and more aggressive to justify their existence.
Pure speculation. Though you might find out if you look through the email headers and trace the IP addresses to a source.
Honestly I had bad events with specials from both B&H (shipped a very expensive device as new that had been used previously) and Adorama (refused to honor a promotional price match even though I met their stated criteria), and have shifted to other sources where possible. While they are both the most honest of the NY/NJ camera stores, they are still of that ilk.
(With due apologies to regular humans that live in that area, it's not you, but mail/phone/web vendors there have set the bar awfully low)Linwood

The IP address is for a data center in Colorado and resolves to bc.adorama.com, where bc stands for BlueCore, an Email Service Provider with offices in New York and in the Delhi area. The tracking pixel also resolves to BlueCore.
Unfortunately, that does nothing to say who composed the email and certainly does nothing to explain the inflated list price shown on the website.

":warning: Alert: Celestron NexStar 4 SE Maksutov-Cassegrain Computerized Telescope Price Drop!"
The body of the email includes the following text:
Celestron NexStar 4 SE Maksutov-Cassegrain Computerized Telescope
REGULAR PRICE: $579.00SPECIAL PRICE: $579.00
Woo hoo! Such a deal. When I posted about this on Facebook, Adorama replied stating that the regular price should have been $883.95. And if you click through to the item, the price shown is $679.00 instead of $579.00. The claimed list price is $883.95. However on that same page, they additionally offer "Deluxe," "Promo," and "Wifi" kits, each of which offers more at the same price and lower claimed list prices. A check of the Celestron website shows the list price of the telescope is actually $679.00.
While I've been an Adorama customer for decades, this is both upsetting and tacky.
