Sorry that I can't help you with modifying your F5 and F6.
Have you considered having your pre-AI lenses modified to Ai? John White at Ai conversions does excellent work.Best Regards,
Marty

Afraid I do not want to do that, as I still use my non AI lenses on my FTn and Nikkormats, and the F4. Occasionally some on the D7000 - well the ones that don't foul the indexing ring on that as well.
I don't like lens mods - particularly the ai conversions that do not use original ai rings. been there before.
For years I have regularly checked for ai rings for the lenses I have, and noone has the specific ring part #'s, so it is unlikely that it will change in the near future.
Nikon used to charge about $120 to put the flip-tab indexing ring on F5's and F6's, and all I'm looking for are the parts to allow me to do this myself, or find someone from Nikon who actually knows what they are talking about.
The guys here in Sydney are not very knowledgeable when it comes to anything older than 6 months it seems.

Ai, AiS, and Ai modified lenses work perfectly well on my F and F2s bodies and should work equally well on your FTn. That said, there is nothing wrong with not wanting to modify your pre-Ai glass.Best Regards,
Marty

I have a couple of cameras, an F5 & F6 to which I want to have the front aperture indexing ring converted to the F4 style - so I can use my non-ai lenses on the F5 & F6.
Nikon used to provide this service, and it was a rudimentary changeover. However, I emailed Nikon and they referred me to the local office here in Australia.
Without meaning to be rude, they know sweet f- all about film cameras. The correspondence was abysmal. I really had hoped I would get a person with experience and knowledge to respond, but it did not happen.
So I rang them up..... and must have gotten the same idiot in service.
Now I know these cameras were able to be converted in a straightforward manner. But for the life of me I cannot find any information as to the parts list, or a kit number, to even allow me to search for the parts to do it myself.
If anyone can assist, or knows someone to whom I should be talking, please email me and let me know. I don't care about the country code, I just want the facts from someone who knows their stuff.
If anyone has the parts list I'd appreciate that too.
thanks in advance
Joe
