The lens is due back today from APS, and I will post some photos of it. I hope to get started on a gallery and include some of the photos taken with the lens. I haven't posted my 300mm F2.8 lens for sale yet, but hope to complete that listing with some photos soon.
My wife is not going to know what to do with these specialized lenses, and I hope to make things a bit easier for her with fewer things to concern her. This gear is excellent and great fun to use.Visit my Nikonians gallery.

APS did a fine repair on the lens: new lens mount, new auto-focus motor, new arm that works the aperture, a cleaning and lubricating, and I have all the original parts should you want them along with all the paperwork and trunk, lens bag, clear 52mm drop-in filter plus it has the APS guarantee which covers five months from now. I've included recent photos. The gouge on the lens hood is the worst mark. The others are what I consider to be minor rub marks, and the glass is perfect. Electronics and mechanics are all fine. The reason for the second dovetail rail is to get enough height to use the long lens support rail. Not sure it is a necessary thing, but I like it because it removes any play in the rotating collar. The second foot does not go with the lens unless you absolutely have to have it. Without the rail, the extra piece defeats the purpose of the Wimberley foot which is to reduce the distance between the lens and tripod mount. I have reduced the price to $5300. It's a superb lens. Some of the photos in my Nikonians gallery were shot with it if you care to have a look. Questions? Want different photos? Happy to oblige.

It looks very nearly new. My illness includes some nerve damage so that I tend to drop things even though I think I have a tight grasp. Recently the lens suffered a drop from a few inches above my pine floor. The drop made no marks, but it did cause the aperture to stick midway in its range. The lens is currently at APS in Illinois, which has always done fine work for me, waiting for parts. When it is returned, I will check it out thoroughly, and it will have APS’s six month warranty on the work they did. They are replacing the aperture arm, bayonet mount, VR mechanism and cleaning and lubricating the lens. It should be as good as new by the time it arrives home. I’m not one to try to pretend it has never been damaged. It certainly did make me feel bad to have been such a klutz, but that’s just the way things are.
I am asking $5500.00 OBO. Includes all the things that came with the lens when purchased new in August, 2013. I have stored it in a long lens bag in a smoke-free house. It is sure to make its new owner very happy. I accept PayPal and can pay for shipping to the lower 48.
