Boy am I ever experiencing this one:
"The i-button and the use of an iMenu is very differnt - but critical. You need to customize your iMenu because it's the fastest way to access most frequently used menu functions. It works through your viewfinder so you don't need to use the rear LCD to change menu items. And that changes the way I use MyMenu."
After days and days of customization and exploration I am intending on a strategy to use the for i-button for settings I may want to adjust while still looking through the viewfinder and MyMenu for things I may favour viewing and adjusting while looking at the back LCD. But guess what I just realized, I can see things from the MyMenu ALSO IN THE EVF if I want
These are some real paradigm changes!! So I'm still exploring how to optimize things in my i-button vs. MyMenu. From my DSLRs I basically lived and died with MyMenu for all my frequently used settings (and things that I frequently want to just verify how I have the camera set).
Next step for me is how to utilize U1/2/3. Thinking out loud, I wanted one for video. But that may not be necessary to devote a U setting to video since we have the separate G1-G6 settings which crucially includes a separate i-Menu and Control Assignments capability! So when you operate the stills / video switch to invoke video it's like having a U-mode all on its own for video - great thinking by Nikon. So perhaps U1 for landscape, and U2 for flash and Hmm maybe U3 mode for action. Haven't fully decided. Lots to consider and still working it out!
