>One feature I'm experimenting with is assigning 100% zoom to >the Function 1 button. For birding and wildlife, this allows >me to effectively have electronic binoculars - I can zoom in >and view the subject at 100% through the viewfinder. When I >have good focus and the right head position, eye, contact, >etc. - I can trigger the shutter. The view will return to a >regular unmagnified view, but if I need a closer view I can >press the button again. > >This also works on playback through the EVF. I can almost >immediately take an image and check focus at 100% without my >eye leaving the viewfinder. This, focus peaking, and on-screen histogram convinced me several years ago to move principally to Olympus MILC. Combine this with Nikon ergonomics, build quality and FF sensors . . .. But ultimately it is going to be the quality of the Z lenses that will entice the great majority of folks over to the Zs.
