I used to do bird shoots and theatre shoots, 500 to 1,000 in two hours or so. It’s not the shooting that kills the battery, it’s the frame/focus/VR when not shooting and, of course, chimping.

I always carry a spare battery — which usually guarantees that I won’t need it. Seriously, it is rare that I have had to swap batteries.
