I was just about ready to abandon the Z6 and go to the Z50 due to reach and cost of lenses.
Hopefully this will fit the bill until more affordable lenses come out of Nikon or 3rd party.
It should fit nicely with my 14-30 and my TTartisan 11mm. Depending on the IQ of the lens, I may sell my 24-70

I'll be interested to hear how your 24-200 stacks up to the 24-70.

I have heard pros and cons on the comparison between the 24-200 vs 24-70. Some say not that much difference, some say they've returned the 24-200, some say they sold the 24-70. I will be running the 24-200 thru its paces once I get it. More so with lower light situations.
Hope yours is doing well for you.

I think it is really a silly comparison, they are 2 different lenses for 2 different purposes.
The 24-70 (either one) is a constant aperture wide the medium zoom useful when a faster aperture is desired, mainly for DOF purposes.
The 24-200 is a convenience lens when you are willing to trade fast aperture (again, primarily DOF) for the convenience of a Superzoom. DOF isn't important.
Fast aperture these days is mostly a DOF issue, modern cameras' higher ISO performance can overcome the lower light gathering. But you can't get f/4 DOF with a f/6.3 lens.

I wouldn't expect the 24-200 to match the sharpness of the 24-70 f/4. I just need to shoot with the 24-200 to find out if it is sharp enough (especially in the 24-120mm range) to be an effective replacement for the F-mount 24-120 f/4 for what I do.

You could do a comparison with the F mount 79-200 f/4, if you have one. I think it will be quite a while before we see a Z mount version of that lens.

Which close-up filters have you used with the 24-200 and found to be good? 67mm?

This might be a review you'd find interesting.
According to him... there isn't much difference in sharpness with the 70-200 f4 vs 24-200. He also has an interesting test with focus breathing making the 24-200 reach just a little farther.

I should compare the Z 24-200 with the 70-300 AF-P in their shared focal length range.

I see Marumi makes a 67mm Apochromat 200 (5+) and 330 (3+) close up lens.
I also ran across at Canon 240 C-8 Close-Up Lens. It is listed a being for movie cameras. I wonder if it will work on a still camera.
I find the apochromatic close-up lease are usually good.

I walked into the local camera store (Action Camera, Reno, NV) to pick up a Peak Design strap for the Z6 and while I was waiting to be served I saw a Z24-200 on the shelf behind the counter. It was their last one, and none of the big online sellers seems to have them in stock, so...I bought it!
It makes for an impressively compact kit. Now I have a serviceable native Z lens to tide me over until Nikon brings out the Z24-105 -- which I may or may not decide I need.
Time for fun and games next week in Death Valley,
Dave
