I noticed for the first time a strange phenomenon in Camera Raw. When looking closely at a picture I noticed color halos around brightly colored details. I selected profile Adobe neutral, checked all settings like sharpening and lens corrections, but couldn't find the cause.
Then I opened the file (RAW of course) with CaptureNX-D and noticed the halos are not present.
Is someone familiar with this?

These are about 10x cropped. Differences in color are because of the profile interpratation that Adobe uses compared to Nikon

Have you checked your CA (chromatic abberation) settings in ACR?

Yes, I unchecked all boxes in section 'Optics'.
But then I noticed 'defringe'; this section has no checkbox so this is always activated. I noticed a fair amount of purple correction. This proved to be the culprit. I must have edited hundreds of pictures with this setting and never noticed this!
Anyway, thank you for pointing me in the right direction.
Problem solved.

You actually want the "Remove chromatic aberration" box checked. This will correct the CA issues of the particular lens you are using. You can then refine the correction using the Defringe tool.
