How to upload a NEF file to get help

\4

If you want to get actionable help with post-processing, helpful advice and critique on a RAW (NEF) image of yours, do like this:

Sign up as a Gold member or higher. After you have signed up, go to the "Premium Advice & Critique forum" (Please note: The video below shows a different former forum name, no longer available)

(1) Click the top right button "Post new message" in the forum

(2) Include a brief description of your image and what you want to achieve

(3) Attach the NEF file using the "Attachment" function in the post message form. Depending on the size of the file and your Internet connection speed, you may need to wait a minute or longer until the file has been uploaded. Once uploaded correctly, a small thumbnail of your image is shown.

(4) Click the "Post message" button - that's it!

Here is a short video wrapping up the steps 1 through 4

Please note: As of 08-APR-2018, the latest Safari browser, Version 11.1, cannot be used for uploading NEF files in the forums. Please use Firefox, Chrome or another browser for uploading instead.

Too bad darktable is not listed in the useable programs to process NEF files

Thank you for your comment. A couple of things.............. I am new to this blog and do not yet have a handle on how to use it. Once I have used it for a while I will probably get the hang of it but for now I am lost! I was asked in a previous e-mail from the blog host to respond to an answer to my question regarding how to use Nikon Capture NXD for importing my raw, "NEF" files but I did not know how to respond so therefore the answer went unanswered. My issue is that since I no longer use Photoshop CS6 Extended I need a program that will import my raw files so I can work with them. I want to do this on my own and not have someone else do it. It seems NXD has a large learning curve and I have been working on it for a couple of months now but I still do not have the most basic task figured out and that is how to import photo files! Thanks, Steve
