I am a retired professional photographer. I used to own a studio specializing in weddings, portraits, and events. Now I am a hobby photographer (the highest form of photography). While I still photograph people at events (mostly my family using flash) my new interests have shifted to landscapes, architecture, wildlife, still life, travel, air shows, and HDR techniques. Prior to being a Wedding Photographer, I was an Electrical Engineer (MSEE USF, 1975) working on integrated circuits for cameras and flashes. I am also an FAA Certificated Flight Instructor (CFII).

WishList: Lots more years of healthy living, so I never have to give up shooting pictures until the day I leave this earth. Plus a D4s!

Ramón and I founded Nikonians end of 1999 and we launched officially 2000. It is truly amazing to see what we have become today - thanks to all of you who have supported us and continue to do so! Without your support, Nikonians would not be able to exist. I am natively a Swede, now living in Bratislava, Slovakia. I am working both in Bratislava and in southern Germany. You can find out more about the team and me on our team page: http://www.nikonians.org/html/about/nikonians_team.html#bgs Happy to have you here - Nikon Rules!

WishList: More time: to be able to spend with Nikonians AND photography. Gearwise, this is on the list: * good, portable heads (light) and some soft boxes. Maybe profoto. * Nikkor AF-S VR 200mm/2.0 * Nikkor AF-S VR 400mm/2.8 * Nikkor AF-S VR 600mm/4.0

I shoot flowers, baseball, insects, railroading, birds, motorsports, landscapes, old machines, street, portraits, the texture of history... whatever piques my interest. I'm now 98% digital, but I still shoot that 2% film, and I still have the film part of a darkroom - but chemical printing is something I plan never to go back to.

Wilderness photography gives me an opportunity to combine my love of the outdoors with my love of photography, and I spend my time chasing light around the country. My specialties are photographing the Smoky Mountains, the desert southwest and the greater Yellowstone area. I am fortunate to have won various awards and my work has been published in books, on magazine covers, calendars and in newspaper articles.

My life in the visual arts started as an Illustrator/Draftsman in the United Sates Navy. After my retirement from the military I turned to photography as my primary creative outlet. Shortly after picking up my first DSLR, a D50, I discovered Nikonians. The people and friendly atmosphere of the Nikonians community has been my greatest asset for the advancement of my photography. I am proud to be part of the Nikonians team!

I'm a full time professional nature photographer specializing in the southeastern United States. I sell prints, lead workshops, provide individual instruction and do some commercial work. I've been shooting with Nikon gear for about 15 years. My main interest areas are landscapes, wildlife and macro, but I do a good bit of urban photography. Several of my current projects involve photographing nature in an urban environment.

One of the highlights in my life was to meet my partner Bo Stahlbrandt and to create Nikonians together. What we may do for others has more chances to endure that whatever we may do for ourselves. Thank you all who help make Nikonians what it is today. A hardcore Nikonian for over 50 years now. Used many brands of cameras before and most formats (Reflex Korelle, Kodak, Rolleicord, Rolleiflex, Voigtländer, Praktica, Exa, Exakta, Pentax, Yashica, Leica, Hasselblad), finally settling on Nikon only; no malfunctions, no service calls, and many happy memories and images. Returned to photography 5 years ago after a 15 year gap with my first DSLR, a D90 when it was first introduced. I've had a number of my photos licensed in the past for calendars and record albums but that was back when I was a recording engineer/producer/studio owner/ for 25 years near San Francisco. Now live in St Petersburg Russia for the past 9 years and LOVE it! It would be a shame NOT to have a good camera in this photogenic city.

Michael Mariant is a travel & documentary visual journalist based in California, while his travels have taken him around the world. Following several years as a newspaper photojournalist and desk editor, Michael moved away from local and regional coverage and up to wire service photography. For over a decade now, Michael has been a contract photojournalist for The Associated Press, responsible for coverage of the Central Coast of California along with sports and entertainment assignments in Los Angeles, notably anchoring the agency’s coverage of the Michael Jackson trial from 2003 to 2005. Coupled with his domestic photojournalism, Michael spends nearly a third of the year abroad shooting travel/documentary stock imagery along with lecturing on the topics of Cultural Sensitivity and Immersion in Travel Photography. Michael is also the consultant and multimedia coordinator for the Semester at Sea study abroad program, providing lectures and instructions to the college students while shaping the direction of the programs multimedia efforts in video, still photography and podcasts through social media. While still taking on editorial and Associated Press assignments, Michael has shifted his focus to DSLR cinematography projects, as well as educational travel photography workshops for Nikonians Academy and High Sierra Workshops, as well as university and industry lecture engagements so as to instruct others on the analytical, cultural and visual approaches to travel photography and cinematography.

The majority of my photography is Travel Photography, which goes hand and hand with my work as a Travel Journalist. I write a weekly travel opinion and advice column, as well as articles for corporate newsletters, and other outlets. As more and more travel being done these days is to see the natural world, travel photography now includes wildlife photography, which has been a long time passion of mine. I also do a considerable amount of architectural, as well as news and event photography, plus some catalog and documentation photography.

I've been involved in photography with SLRs since I was eleven years old and have never lost my fascination and joy with it. There's something special about its blend of art and personal memories that inspires me. The areas of photography I enjoy the most are landscapes, wildlife, and travel; it's hard for me to imagine a time where I'll lose interest in them. An early adopter of digital, I'm a happy user of DSLRs. I'm fortunate to live in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where there are ample opportunities for the photographic subjects I enjoy. I'm happy and honored to be part of the team.
