"From
the West, a description of the Island of Helgoland touches me
both for its beautiful instances of inorganic an organic nature,
the consolidated values of prehistoric life, and as still fresh
evidence for the survival and work of the eternal spirit of
the age."
Johann
Wolfgang von Goethe
24th October, 1827

| THE
LUMMENFELSEN
Helgoland
is an oasis of quietness and unique natural monument. There
is nothing to compare it with!
Formed
of red sandstone, the island rises 200ft above sea level and
is largely covered with grazing land. With its unique and
tremendous flora and fauna, but especially Germans only "Bird-Rock",
the "Lummenfelsen", it attracts birders from all
over the world.
The rock
is named after the Guillemots which live in uncountable numbers
at the rock and put their only egg in nests in breath-taking
hights.
Guillemots
are high-sea birds, only visiting the island at breeding time.
After that, the parents care for the children at sea and swim
or fly to Skandinavia.

|
You will have the opportunity to photograph other seabirds as
well, such as Kittiwakes and Northern Gannets!
THE
DUNE
In
1720, the natural connection between the Dune and the
Island was destroyed by a storm flood. The Dune is since
a paradise for dedicated nature photography.
Expect
grey and Harbour seals in their natural environment,
and bring your macro-lens to discover the biosphere
of this little nature reserve
|
|
|
At
"bad-light" time there will be daily theory sessions
where you will learn about exposure, image composition and
presentation, equipment choice and handling.
And
you will have the opportunity to show a small number of your
photos for critique. |
|
|
The
teaching style of Claus
Brandt,
your award-winning workshop leader, is highly informative.
You will leave this workshop with a solid understanding of
the basics and most advanced principles of wildlife photography.
Book
now to reserve your place on this highly demanded workshop!
