For many photographers the Clone Stamp Tool is maybe the most important digital image editing tool they have. How else could you give a teenager clear skin and make garbage dump look like the city park (or the other way around if you have an evil sense of humor).

The tool seems simple on the surface but it has a thousand combinations of variables that can make a photograph (or rather the subject of the photograph) into a work of art.

Some of the Brush variations, you can also create custom brushes and set hardness. Brush size varies from 0 to 2,500 px. There are also Modes to pick from, which are normal, opaque, etc. Opacity and Flow vary from 0 to 100%.

Notice the small blemish next to the Clone Stamp target (set by selecting the Option button and clicking on the area you want to clone).

The blemish has been removed, since the paint job is somewhat uneven, the touch-up should also be just as uneven or it would look phony.

A perfect clone has been produced. A section of an image can also be cloned from a second photographic image file or graphic image file and moved to the image file you are working on.
