The images below are taken with the notoriously noisy Panasonic DMC-LX1 and the Leica D-LUX 2, two very fine and very small cameras that can produce excellent RAW image files.

The results of the tests below are a little vague to me, so I have to apologize if I am not getting something right and will update this page as soon as I figure out what I am doing wrong.

Personally I kind of like a little noise in some images, it reminds me of grain when shooting with High Speed Ektachrome and Tri-X black & white film. De-noise filters tend to make the noise kind of mushy and blurry which to me is less appealing then a distinct and sharp noise. But as I said before I could be using this function in the wrong way so I will investigate further and update this page with my findings.
