PROFILING A MONITOR 1

I1Match offers two modes for profiling monitors, Easy and Advanced. Easy mode uses the monitor’s current setup, without requiring you to make any adjustments to the controls. Advanced mode allows you to optimise the monitor’s contrast and brightness settings and, depending on the monitor’s capabilities, can allow you to set the whitepoint to one of a range of values. The following process is an example of using advanced mode to profile a CRT monitor with a full set of colour adjustment controls.

The first step is to select whether you will be profiling an LCD or CRT monitor.

Next you calibrate the Eye-One by placing it on the calibration plate.

i1Match then asks you to select colour temperature and gamma values for your monitor; you have the choice of specifying a particular colour temperature from a list of options (5000K to 7500K in 500K steps) or using the monitor's native whitepoint.

You now attach the Eye-One to the monitor, making sure it avoids the area used by the monitor’s on-screen display and the upper right-hand corner which is used by i1Match to display status information.
