SOFTWARE
The installation instructions in the Getting Started guide seem,
at first site, to be minimal: install the software, connect the
Eye-One either directly to your computer or to a powered USB hub
(since it’s a high power USB device) and run the software. But
it really is that easy – the installation was perfectly straightforward
and proceeded without any problems.
Four applications are provided on the software CD:
- i1Match
provides profiling capabilities for monitors, digital projectors,
scanners and printers.
- i1Share
provides the ability to measure spot colour and ambient light,
and allows the construction and management of colour palettes
that can be used by other applications.
- Eye-One
Diagnostics allow you to check the Eye-One Pro spectrophotometer
is functioning correctly.
- Eye-One
ColorPoint is a colour management add-in for Microsoft PowerPoint.
i1Match
The main application, i1Match, is wizard based. The interface
is divided into three areas: the centre shows the options and
data relating to the current step in the process, the left hand
panel displays progress through the process and the right hand
panel displays help relating to the current step. There’s no separate
help file or documentation – all the information relating to use
of the hardware and software appears in the help panel, so the
first time you run through a process it’s essential to read the
instructions relating to each step before proceeding since these
often cover important details such as ensuring you have all colour
management or optimisation options switched off before printing
a test chart.
The i1Match software has the capability to profile CRT or LCD
monitors, digital projectors, scanners and RGB or CMYK printers.
In the case of the Eye-One Photo package the projector and scanner
options are not available and i1Match will request that you enter
a licence key if you select them. Similarly, when profiling a
printer, it’s only possible to use the RGB targets; attempting
to select a CMYK target will cause i1Match to request a licence
key. |
