SAMPLE
SHOTS As
an example of user preferences, I bought a 28-105mm for my daughter
(with a N80/F80) and she finds it "superior" to my 28-70mm
f/2.8D ED IF AF-S, simply because she would never carry mine as
it is much bigger and heavier. Never mind the cost, it would be
a gift from me; however, for her, weight and size is an overriding
concern and the main reason for her preference of the N80 over
the F100. So this is the lens that stays on her camera 98% of
the time.

| This
is the "life-size" statue of an angel carved in
stone. We almost bought it. It seems I was really saved
by a miracle.
The important thing here is that it made for an splendid
subject to show the sharpness the 28-105mm is capable
of, even when up close and wide open. The sun is in the
back of the statue, therefore under dull contrast. |

|
| The
very much dreaded "gray bride-bluish groom" syndrome
is successfully avoided with the combination of the matrix
metering of the N80 and true color rendering
of the 28-105mm lens, even when the scene is only illuminated
by the built-in flash under very dim light at the wedding
reception.
(This
is a terrible scan from a 4x6 print. Sorry) |

| This
image illustrates the lens' sharpness (check
the logo on the camera and the surfaces of the lens in the
enlargement) and its most pleasant boke
as can be seen in the trees behind the difficult subject,
with the highlight exactly at the center of each out of
focus area. It has a nine-blade rounded diaphragm opening
making such out-of-focus elements appear more natural. |

| When
shooting with the D2X, one of the major concerns is if a lens
is up to par with the 12.4 megapixel sensor resolution. While
on a business trip, our hosts were most gracious to take us
to the Garden of the Gods in Colorado. The 28-105mm performed
superbly, side by side with the 12-24mm f/4G DX Nikkor. |

I'll
ask for one of her landscapes to include it here and will borrow
it for a macro mode sample shot.
This
lens has a hybrid-type aspherical
lens element for minimized distortion and is compact
enough to make it a good all-around lens at a reasonable price.
Ok,
she hates its odd-looking hood, but has learned to appreciate
the added contrast in the images when using it.
A most recommended purchase by many Nikonians around the globe,
so we keep one at home.

a great time |
