THE CAMERA GRAND PRIX 2004

Singled as the most outstanding still camera amongst 172 nominees released between April 2003 and March 2004, the prestigious Camera Grand Prix award was granted to the D70 by the Camera Press Club of Japan in May, 2004.

The citation reads: "The Nikon D70 delivers a superior balance of performance, price, and size. Despite being positioned as a new popular-priced digital SLR model, the camera is loaded with features that challenge even higher priced products. It overcomes the traditional weaknesses of digital cameras by realizing fast power-up and fast continuous shooting, and earns special notice for realizing response that is on par with 35mm film SLR cameras while improving practicality and comfort of use. Clearly labeled menu options make operation easier for novices and combine with the camera’s other features to make it accessible to a wider range of users, thereby achieving a level where the D70 establishes an entirely new trend in digital SLR cameras...."

TECHNICAL IMAGE PRESS ASSOCIATION

The TIPA Award was also granted to the D70 in August, 2004, as the Best Consumer Digital SLR in Europe. TIPA is the Technical Image Press Association of 31 magazines of 12 European countries.

EUROPEAN IMAGING AND SOUND ASSOCIATION (EISA)

"The Nikon D70 is a very affordable 6 MegaPixel digital SLR camera, with an astonishing range of advanced features, yet still easy to use. Combined with an excellent performance in speed and continuous shooting, and with an image quality good enough to satisfy even professional needs, the D70 is attractive for a wide range of users. A sharp 1,8 inch TFT LCD monitor and a very good battery performance add to the attractive sides. Looked at all round, Nikon has managed to produce a camera that is unusually good value for the money."
