Flash head angle variations, switch from TTL + Matrix into just TTL ...

(9) Flash: on hot shoe
Flash head: upwards at 45° with diffuser
Flash settings: TTL + Matrix
Flash compensation: none
Exposure: 1/60 sec, f/4

Result: No strong shadows anywhere.
(10) Flash: on hot shoe
Flash head: upwards at 90° with diffuser
Flash settings: TTL + Matrix
Flash compensation: none 
Exposure: 1/60 sec, f/4

Result: Softer light than above.
(11) Flash on hot shoe
Flash head: upwards at 90° into the ceiling with white card out
Flash settings: TTL + Matrix
Flash compensation: none
Exposure: 1/60 sec, f/4

Result: Still very soft but with more light from that bounced by the white card.
(12) Flash 1: on hot shoe
Flash head: upwards at 90° with diffuser 
Flash settings: TTL
Flash compensation: none
Flash 2: at right on SU-4 upwards at 45°
Exposure: 1/60 sec, f/4

Result: Even softer, light evenly distributed from primary source. Background detail is gone.
(13) Flash on hot shoe
Flash head: straight forward with diffuser
Flash settings: TTL
Flash compensation: none
Flash 2: at right on SU-4 into subjects
Exposure: 1/60 sec, f/4

Result: Light less evenly distributed than above but much better than with no diffuser (as in Frame 2).
